RecordLink export can only do so much. For it to be effective you need to ensure that all of your Linked Documents are correctly linked. ESS have made it easier to deal with both orphaned documents and links.

Schools should run through this basic housekeeping routine regularly and always before creating an archive with RecordLink export.

You can find it from the menu by selecting Tool>Housekeeping>Document Management Server>Maintain Orphaned Documents.
